The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has rejected some reports that the 2022 budget has been increased by N4.5 billion.

The Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, said in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Babafimi’s agency has been flooded with calls and messages since Tuesday, seeking clarification on the NLE.5 billion budget deficit planned by the NDLEA.

According to him, the money was intended for the construction of a police station.

According to him, the statement was a formal response to reports that the agency’s budget proposal submitted by the Federal Ministry of Finance was covered by N4.5 billion for the construction of a police station.

“It is a well-known fact that President Muhammadu Buhari has unanimously approved the construction of the NDA military base in four years, starting in 2022.

“Although the money requested was for the construction of the NDLA camp, it was investigated in one of the documents attached to the budget office’s proposal as ‘police camp’.

“Tipo’s mistake has since been corrected and the budget approved by the Senate Committee on Tuesday,” he said.
