Under the Progressive Youth Movement, an All Progressives Congress (APC) vote of no confidence in the caretaker convention committee headed by the ruling party, Mai Mala Buni.

Following the crisis that led to the ouster of the party’s former chairman Adams Oshimhol, he was appointed chairman of the APC General Assembly in June 2020.

The youths recalled that last week, about a year before the party took over the party’s affairs, the committee was more than welcome to hold a temporary meeting.

The municipal meeting, which was held under the theme ‘Ready to Lead, Now and Never’, attracted young people from the North West Geo-Political Zone and was held in Kaduna, Murtala Square.

Announcing the resignation of the party leadership, Mustafa Awdu, the party’s former ruling candidate in Koji State, said the youths would form another committee for the party’s national convention next week.

The contingent urged the youths to gather in the collapsed northern regional capital to express their grievances over the “impossible” turmoil in the ruling party.

“We have come here to oust and overthrow the CECP, led by the ruling party, Mala Mala Buni,” he said. Now is the time for the people of Yobe State to benefit from the elected government. We young people will form our own convention special planning committee.

“Next week we will release our own zoning formula and, in any case, prepare our first week of February 2022 for our convention.

“Our conference will be better than any convention just because young people are involved and young people are a real stakeholder in the APC.”

At the meeting, APC co-chair of the Reconstruction Team, Mr. Ayobami Oyalow Buni, called for the resignation of the party’s acting chairman.

According to him, “We wish him a happy birthday and we want him to relinquish his authority over the reception. He had to spend six months but he spent a year and another six months.

“A party like the APC should not be the problem we are facing. With the exception of the Ondo State election, we lost the other elections.
